FORENSIC officers have spent nearly two days examining a Chelmsford skate park in connection with a murder in the city.

The ramps in Central Park have been cordoned off since Tuesday as police hunt for clues about the death of Colin Evans, 39.

The 39-year-old was found dead at his home at homeless charity Sanctus in Broomfield Road, close to the Ship pub at 8.30am on Tuesday, September 30.

The cordon went up around the park at about 7.45pm that evening.

Essex Police have refused to tell the Weekly News why they have cordoned off the park and could not say how long it would be sealed off.

Yesterday evening officers were seen examining items of clothings including what appeared to be a jumper.

Police were called to Mr Evans flat after he was found with stab wounds.

A 29 year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

DCI Martin Pasmore, who is leading the investigation, has appealed to anyone with information to come forward and speak to them.

He said: "I’m keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area.

“The victim was found with stab injuries in a property on a busy road and I would urge anyone with information to contact me.”

Anyone with information should contact Essex Police on 101.
