THE revenues team at Chelmsford City Council has beaten off competition from other councils across the country to win Revenues Team of the Year at the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation Awards 2014.

The City Council has been working in partnership with Essex County Council, Essex Police and Essex Fire Authority and has been able to reach out to residents who may need a tailored service in the way they pay for Council Tax.

The team take a proactive approach in communicating with tax payers early in order to make the best possible decisions to prevent things unravelling at a later stage.

Cabinet Member for Financial Services, Councillor John Galley, said: "I am extremely proud of the Council’s Revenues Team and I am confident we can continue to improve the dedicated services we offer to our residents.

"The team has won this award due to the breadth of experience in the team and the way they deal with and resolve any challenges."
