McDONALD’S is set to open another restuarant in Chelmsford, creating at least 75 jobs, after its planning application was given the go-ahead.

The fast-food chain originally applied for permission to build the two-storey restaurant – complete with a drive-through – in Westway, Chelmsford, last year but, although councillors approved the original design, a BT chamber in the way of the original approved access meant the chain had to revise the scheme and apply for permission again.

This was granted on February 2.

A spokesman for McDonald’s said: “This new opening will create at least 75 new jobs and provide significant investment for the local community.

“Those employed at our new restaurant will have access to leading training schemes, as well as the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications in maths and English, apprenticeships in hospitality and foundation degrees.”
