MEADOW Youth Football Club’s Under 8’s team had a lucky strike after being provided with £1,000 as part of their annual official sponsorship.

The players were this month presented the substantial sum by Specsavers in Chelmsford High Street, which has backed the club for the last four years.

Meadow Youth FC manager, Scott Robinson, said: ‘The Specsavers Chelmsford store has been extremely supportive this year and being associated with an internationally recognised brand has given my players a real sense of pride.

“Thanks to the store we’ve been able to buy the boys new kit and state-of-the art equipment.”

Speaking after the presentation, which took place on Sunday July 3, the Specsavers store director spoke of her excitement in handing over the cash.

Pat Cooper said: “We’re dedicated to celebrating Meadow Youth Football Club and everything they do.

“We are really excited to be able to provide them with the funding for equipment and tools and in return have a fabulous team to make Chelmsford proud.

“We wish the team every success for this season and would encourage everyone in the local community to get behind them and offer their support.”
