SAVVY council workers have tweeted celebrities due to appear at V Festival this weekend to promote road closures.

Essex County Council took to Twitter to warn the likes of Justin Bieber, the Kaiser Chiefs and Lethal Bizzle, who will all be performing at the event in Hylands Park, about road closures, temporary speed limits and probable congestion.

In a tweet to Bieber, the council wrote: "#Sorry just wanted to make you aware of Chelmsford traffic management in place at #Vfestival."

Rapper Lethal Bizzle even responded to the council's tweet "Hi @LethalBizzle if you're bringing your 'Rari to #Vfestival #Chelmsford, please be aware of road closures".

He wrote back thanking them for the heads up and just to add that he drives a Lamborghini.

Stephen Canning, Essex County Council's deputy cabinet member with responsibility for Digital Innovation, said: “This is a perfect example of social media in action and we are delighted Lethal Bizzle has helped share our traffic management information for drivers attending V Festival to nearly 300,000 of his followers on Twitter.

“Only time will tell if Justin Bieber will follow suit.

“For anyone attending V Festival this weekend or planning to drive in the Chelmsford area, Essex Traffic Control Centre will remain open throughout the weekend with live updates available on our website or by following @Essex_Travel on Twitter.”
