A LABOUR support group will be holding a meeting to discuss the future of the party.

Chelmsford Momentum, a left wing grassroots group that supports Labour is holding a public meeting with Labour activist Chris Vince.

The meeting will discuss: 'After the leadership election – where now for Labour?', and will take place on Tuesday October 4 at the Bird in Hand pub in New Writtle Street, Chelmsford with a 7.30pm start.

Chelmsford Momentum's Andy Abbott said: "We know that Chris didn't vote for Corbyn, however he has been an example to all in the Labour Party with his committed calls for unity.

"A commitment underlined by agreeing to come and address his local Momentum meeting.

"And for Labour now to unite it is essential that different positions within the party engage in respectful dialogue.

"We are anticipating a very healthy and open discussion, and all those with an interest in Labour politics will be most welcome to attend and take part."

Chris Vince said: "Now more than ever, with a Tory government we need our Labour Family to stand up for those most vulnerable in our society, defend our Schools and protect our NHS.

"Having campaigned across Essex with Labour activists, some with differing opinions on the Leadership election, I know we can lead the way in showing the unity that Jeremy himself spoke of on Saturday.

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to talk with members of Chelmsford Momentum, about how we can work together to this end and therefore strengthen the Labour Party in our region."
