THE GLOBE timed their halfway run-in perfectly to snatch top spot in the Ridley League table just in time for the Christmas break.

They ended City FC’s mini-revival with a crushing 13-2 win, Martin Compton bagging three darts victories – including a 180 – and a less-expected one as stand-in partner to Les Parker in the last dominoes.

The result gives the Globe a three-point cushion over former leaders Chequers B, 9-6 winners at the Black Bull.

The Felsted darters just loved the home throw – Steve O’Neil and Peter Webb, who did a 12-dart leg in the first pairs, each fired a 180; and Barry Miles shot out from 150 in his defeat by Bull ace Peter Wiffen.

Chequers A stay third after dismissing Cricketers by the same score. Conor Allington had a 150 and 140 as they dominated the darts, with Marion Wiley’s 110 finish (T20, bullseye) the visitors’ high point.

Little Waltham hauled themselves away from the dead end of the table with a good 10-5 result at the Compasses, taking the points in all four match sections, most notably the main darts, which they nicked after trailing 1-3.

RESULTS: Bird in Hand v St Anne’s Castle, no result; Black Bull 6, Chequers B 9 (singles/pairs 2-5, mixed 0-1, women 0-1, dominoes 4-2); Chequers A 9, Cricketers 6 (6-1, 0-1, 1-0, 2-4); Compasses 5, Lt Waltham SC 10 (3-4, 0-1, 0-1, 2-4); Globe 13, CCFC 2 (5-2, 1-0, 1-0, 6-0).

The league starts again on Tuesday, January 6, with the Dominoes Cup quarter-finals.
