ESSEX wrapped up a convincing victory over Derbyshire this evening after the visitors’ second innings collapsed.

After a brief flurry from James Foster this morning, Essex were bowled out for 473, giving them a lead of 325.

And their hopes of winning the match on the third day were further boosted when Jamie Porter got two early wickets.

But the odds of that happening lengthened when a third wicket partnership of 166 from Chesney Hughes and Wayne Madsen frustrated the hosts.

But Ravi Bopara eventually trapped Hughes which sparked a middle-order collapse from Derbyshire as they lost eight wickets for just 115 runs.

Graham Napier did the damage with the ball this evening, finishing with figures of 4-64 after a long spell working in tandem with Jesse Ryder, who picked up three wickets himself.
