CHELMSFORD City will be aiming to make sure their defeat to Maidenhead is only a blip when they host Oxford City on Saturday.
Maidenhead brought a halt to the Clarets’ six-match unbeaten run last weekend with a 1-0 win which brought them a place and a point behind their seventh-placed visitors.
But City’s ambition will tested against second-placed Oxford, who were held to a 2-2 draw by Eastbourne Borough last Saturday.
Chelmsford had not won at York Road since 2011 and Ben Wright’s 77th minute goal for Maidenhead following a goalmouth scramble ensured that run continued.
But the Clarets might have salvaged a point from the National League South fixture if Hugo Skepelhorn had scored from the penalty spot five minutes from the final whistle.
