UNDERDOGS Chelmsford City lost 6-2 to Colchester Town in the Essex County Cup quarter-final.
The Colchester visitors took an early lead at Melbourne Stadium and made it 2-0 in the 37th minute.
City conceded a third just after the hour before substitute striker Lisa Overall reduced the arrears.
Colchester made it 5-1 before Overall got her second and despite late Clarets pressure, Town netted their sixth on the counter-attack.
“I cannot speak highly enough of my players,” said City boss Simon Horne.
“Taking nothing away from Colchester, I think the score line flatters them a little.
"Our second half performance was probably our best of the season and I’m really pleased with the goals we scored.”
