CHELMSFORD gained revenge for their drubbing earlier in the season with a 32-28 win over CS Rugby 1863 in London One North.

With Chingford losing heavily, Chelmsford climbed out of the bottom three.

“For me this is just rewards for all the hard work the coaches and players have put in over the season,” said head coach Eddie Gooby.

“This was no fluke result, we deserved this win and it proves to me that consistency in selection is a key for us and we have a team who can compete at this level.

“For the first time in a year I selected the same 15 players and hopefully this will continue.

“My challenge to the boys and focus for this week is that can we follow up this win with another strong performance next weekend at Harrow, who themselves are fighting for survival.

“If we can, we will be going in the right direction to finish the season strongly and that should be the focus of all the players at the club.”

Chelmsford’s try-scorers were Jamie Ash, Jamie Moorish and captain Paul Redford.

Simon Hoult scored a penalty try, two penalties and two conversions.
