CHELMSFORD City finished their National League South season in 15th place following a final day defeat to Basingstoke Town.
Basingstoke were already relegated and went into the match at the Melbourne Stadium bottom of the table.
But goals from Louie Soares after 30 minutes and George Bennett seven minutes later ensured a defeat for Kevin Maher's team.
The Clarets will have two derby rivals next season as East Thurrock United will be joining City and Concord Rangers in the league.
Rocks defeated Dulwich Hamlet 3-1 on Monday in the Ryman Premier League play-off final at Rookery Hill to ensure promotion for John Coventry's team.
