NEW Chelmsford City manager Rod Stringer has vowed to turn round the fortunes of the Clarets.
Stringer - and his assistants Nick Haycock and Tony Fenn - addressed a meeting of City fans following his appointment earlier this month.
And he said that given time he was confident he could lift the National League South club.
“I feel we can do the job that’s in hand,” said Stringer, who joined Chelmsford from Bishop’s Stortford.
“I think I’ve got a good staff around me and that I’ve got a board that can help push us forward.
“And if the fans get behind us then I think we’ve got a good future.
“I think the world’s your oyster to where we could end up and I’d really love to try and get us up into that next division sooner rather than later.”
Stringer’s back room team followed him from National League South rivals Bishop’s Stortford and he was quick to sing their praises.
The new Clarets boss met with the players before the question-and-answer session with the supporters.
He said he had stressed he wanted to instil honesty, hard work and team-work into the squad to ensure the players ‘feel a part of a family’.
The boss, who had previous managerial stints with Aveley and Braintree Town, has been given a three-year contract by City.
He admitted there was not a quick fix and that he would like to turn the club around given time and ‘make the fortunes come back to Chelmsford City’.
Stringer takes over from caretaker boss Kevin Maher.
